The Company

In 2001 guidelines for regulating wood packaging material in international trade were drawn up to protect both domestic and foreign forests from live wood pests. This guideline is known as the ISPM-15. In a nut shell there are two approved methods for sterilization of wood packaging material which are accompanied with appropriate marks:

  1. Heat treatment (HT):
Wood packaging material should be heated with a specific time-temperature schedule that achieves a minimum wood core temperature of 56’C for a minimum of 30 minutes.
  2. Methyl bromide (MB) fumigation:
Wood packaging material should be fumigated with methyl bromide for a minimum exposure time of 24 hours at 10’C or above.

Lodge Lumber Company has been committed from the start to furnish our customers with compliant materials, educational information, implementation of packaging programs, and certification of exported wood packaging material. The WPM program is regulated by the USDA - Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. The USDA has enlisted the American Lumber Standard Committee, Inc.to enforce the program. The ALSC has third-party accredited agencies to license, inspect, and audit facilities that produce WPM. We have aligned ourselves with Timber Products Inspection, Inc. as our third party auditing agency since September of 2001.

So whether you need one timber or ten truck loads…Lodge Lumber is your source to get your products to international markets.
